Imagine my surprise when I heard this morning that Automotive News was reporting that Cadillac is considering to build a Coupe version of the next CTS?
Come on guys, we’ve been talking about that one over here for months.
Now, what we had not heard before was a the suggestion that there might be a new crossover built on the new CTS. There is no clarification as to if this might be a new SRX, SRX replacement, alternative to the rumored Theta-based BRX, or an ‘Outback’-ish version of a rumored CTS wagon.

The Car Connection is reporting on statements made by Cadillac General Manager, Jim Taylor about Cadillac’s expansion to the South African and Australian markets.
Some time in the 4th Quarter 06, Cadillac will begin to sell Lansing built Cadillacs (CTS, STS, SRX) in right-hand-drive in showrooms to be shared with the Hummer brand (that also recently began being sold there).
Cadillac will also push into the Australian market late in 2007.

CAR, one of the premier UK auto magazines, has just posted online their driving impressions of the SRX V-8. It is interesting to read, if only to get a taste of what is important to that audience vs. what typically is considered important in the US/North American market.
Given their cost of fuel, it is obvious that the thirsty nature of any US aimed SUV would be a shock to their systems, but it is interesting to hear how surprised they are by loud stereos and cold A/C systems.
They are less than pleased by the soft seats and suspension, as well as the interior design (though they are not driving the 2007 with its new interior), but recognize how they are an indicator of the primary market for which the SRX is designed.
It is interesting, in light of Cadillac’s push to be more of a player in Europe that they will have to either have unique models or at least unique features in their vehicles when sold across the pond to be true contenders. This is much as the Euro competition offer different feature mixes to appeal over here.

Things have been kind of busy over at Edmunds today…
First we saw more spyshots of the 2008 CTS and now we have some pictures of an upcoming refresh to the STS-V that shows off the freshened STS LED taillights. Also expect some lightly restyling to the grill area to give a little more resemblance to the 08 CTS and the new Escalade.
Rumor has this particular car packing a highly tuned version of the SC Northstar engine putting out over 600hp. Expect significantly less of a boost for the 08 STS-V if Cadillac decides that this is a good time to make the most powerful Cadillac ever even more so.
