Detroit News - Review of XLR-V

September 27, 2006 - 9:36 am

PGR 3Earlier this month, Paul Lienert at the Detroit News got a chance to review the XLR-V.

I think his first sentence tells quite a tale:

The 2007 Cadillac XLR-V is not only the best Cadillac on the market today, it may be the best car built in America, period.

Flint engine plant to begin building high-feature V-6 for Cadillac

September 22, 2006 - 9:15 pm

VVTV6 28The Flint Journal is reporting that GM is investing $300 million in the Flint Engine South plant (currently the source of GM’s 4.2l inline 6-cylinder engines for the GMT360 line of SUV’s – such as the Chevrolet Trailblazer) in order to begin production of the high-feature VVT V-6 used in the current line of Cadillacs.

The V-6 engines are currently produced in Ontario, Canada.

Production in Flint will first be used in the CTS, and as production increases, V-6 engines for both the SRX and STS will come from this plant.

Cadillac to idle Lansing plant for 1 week

September 8, 2006 - 8:02 am

STSOver at the Lansing State Journal, we find that Cadillac has a small oversupply problem.

The week of October 2nd, Cadillac will idle their plant in Lansing to allow inventories of our favorite Sigma-based Cadillac models drop a bit.

As you may remember, Lansing builds the CTS, CTS-V, STS, STS-V, and the SRX. Sales of many of these are down this year – resulting in the oversupply.

Cadillac begins next phase of push into European market

September 7, 2006 - 4:54 pm

BLSWhile Europe is not yet a major market for Cadillac, they are continuing their push to be a major player in the worldwide luxury market by expanding their offerings in Europe.

Examples of this renewed push include:

The introduction of the brand new Escalade SUV, all-wheel drive version of the STS as well as STS with a new 6-speed automatic transmission, and a new 6-speed manual and automatic with sport mode in the BLS, all late in 2006.

The introduction of the 2007 SRX with a new, much more refined interior package at the beginning of 2007.

The introduction of the STS-V and XLR-V high-performance cars during the first quarter of 2007.

Cadillac to get 5 year / 100000 mile powertrain warranty

September 6, 2006 - 12:31 pm

GM announced today that they will begin in the 2007 model year by offering a 100000 mile / 5 year powertrain warranty on all 8 brands in the GM fleet, including Cadillac.

In addition, roadside assistance is now good on all 2007 and newer models for the same 5 year / 100000k as the powertrain warranty.

For Cadillac, the bumper-to-bumper warranty remains at the, still impressive, 4 year / 50000 miles.

Now that GM is standing more firmly behind their ever improving quality, we can see if that stems the company-wide slide in market share (Cadillac being one of the few bright spots in that regard).
