Finally, we’ve managed to dig up a copy of the press release for the new 2008 CTS.

Of note is the wider track (up by around 2 inches), heated and cooled seats, available all-wheel drive, and heavily upgraded interior with white LED-based ambient lighting.

It looks like some sites just can’t tell time. Photos of the new CTS leaked onto the web over night because some sites (*cough* Edmunds) posted them and some details early.

What we know from their early post is that the new CTS looks like this. We also know the 2.8l VVT is dead, being replaced by the 3.6l we already know and love in 258hp trim.

The upgrade engine is the previously rumored direct injection 3.6 pumping out a stout 300hp.

Either engine will be available with a 6-speed manual (yipee!) or 6-speed auto. All-wheel drive will also become an option for the first time.

Also take a look at the new interior that is, as expected, very close to the styling buck shown by Bob Lutz on 60 Minutes those many months ago.

Expect lots of high-res photos in our image gallery as well as full press-release goodness in a couple hours.

GM is providing us with a live video feed of the new CTS reveal at the Detroit Auto Show.

Check this out at approximately 9:40am Eastern Standard Time (GMT -5) on January 8th, 2007 to watch as the new CTS is shown to the world for the first time.

I’m really not sure how much of a story it is, but while we wait for the CTS announcement on Monday…why not discuss the CTS’ little brother, the euro-only BLS.

Sales of the Epsilon-based BLS have been a little off of Cadillac expectations – partially because it lacks the sporting credentials of the targeted BMW 3-series or Audi A4. Cadillac is looking to help close the gap with a newly available sport package.

The package does not include any more power – which is really one area that the BLS was fine in already. It does include the following:

18” wheels
Lowered sport suspension
Aluminum interior trim

It will be interesting to see if this helps increase sales.
