GM Cancels Performance Group

February 19, 2009 - 6:30 am

Another part of the GM restructuring isn’t as good a news as a production CTS Coupe of Converj…

GM has halted all work by their performance division (the folks responsible for cars like the Corvette ZR-1 and the CTS-V). Currently there are no performance models in the product plan while GM gets their financial situation in order.

However, it is expected this group will get back to work as soon as GM feels that they have the extra cash to splurge on halo/flagship models.

Let’s hope we get through the latest financial/economic crisis as soon as possible.

In GM’s restructuring plan that they presented to the US government this week – we get two tidbits of upcoming product.

2010 Cadillac CTS CoupeOne is the details of the 2010 CTS Coupe – and this picture of it in production trim. As expected, this is very close to the concept shown previously. As to powertrains, all we know for now is that the most fuel-efficient combo will be a 3.6l V-6 w/ 6-speed automatic (no word on if this is the DI or non-DI version).

Also revealed is that one of the upcoming Voltec models, in addition to the Chevy Volt and a version for Opel in Europe will be the Cadillac Converj (likely with a different name) in 2012.
