New SRX on the way

We had heard that the SRX replacement was up in the air. Now, Automotive News is reporting that, in a conversation with product guru Bob Lutz himself, that he has stated he would like to see a new SRX brought to market.
Expectations are that the SRX would be Sigma-chassis based, just like the current SRX. However, due to slower than desired sales, the product planners are looking into what would need to be changed to better fit what customers want.
Expect the new SRX to hit the market by the 2011 model year.

Cadillac, this month, is showing a custom SRX Sport worked over by clothing designer Dana Buchman at the 2006 SEMA show in Las Vegas.

Cadillac to launch in South Africa

The Flint Journal is reporting that GM is investing $300 million in the Flint Engine South plant (currently the source of GM’s 4.2l inline 6-cylinder engines for the GMT360 line of SUV’s – such as the Chevrolet Trailblazer) in order to begin production of the high-feature VVT V-6 used in the current line of Cadillacs.
The V-6 engines are currently produced in Ontario, Canada.
Production in Flint will first be used in the CTS, and as production increases, V-6 engines for both the SRX and STS will come from this plant.

Cadillac to idle Lansing plant for 1 week

Over at the Lansing State Journal, we find that Cadillac has a small oversupply problem.
The week of October 2nd, Cadillac will idle their plant in Lansing to allow inventories of our favorite Sigma-based Cadillac models drop a bit.
As you may remember, Lansing builds the CTS, CTS-V, STS, STS-V, and the SRX. Sales of many of these are down this year – resulting in the oversupply.
