Finally - what Saffron seats look like

CTSVCoupeSeats smallGM has finally decided to give us an idea what their new Saffron seat trim in the CTS-V Coupe will look like.

This certainly lightens up the all-black theme and helps offset the smaller glass-area of the coupe.

Also, do you like those sporty seats in the CTS-V? We just found out from Dave Caldwell, Cadillac spokesman, that Cadillac is doing a trial run of CTS’s in non-V guise that will be available with the upgraded seats as a test to see if folks that want the sportier seating but can’t swing the whole V-series trim can now have the nice sports seating. As you may remember, Cadillac stated with the standard coupe that the CTS-V seating would be an option. This is the first we’ve heard of the seats now being available in the more sedate CTS versions.


CTS-V Coupe Details released ahead of Detroit Show

UPDATE: All the high-quality photos of the V Coupe

CTSVCoupeExhCadillac unveiled today details on the new CTS-V Coupe.

Of note are a new interior color – Saffron interior option that takes inspiration from the CTS coupe concept interior.

The V Coupe carries all the unique attributes of the CTS Coupe with the same upgrades we have all come to know and love from the CTS -V sedan, including it’s piano black interior accents, unique power-dome hood, as well as the rest of the V-series trademarks such as the mesh grill-work.

The Coupe does have a rear track nearly 1” wider than the sedan – which provides both a more sporting stance while potentially helping handling (though we’ll have to see some official ‘Ring times to know for sure).

Expect the V Coupe to go on sale in early summer.

CTS Coupe revealed and CTS-V Coupe confirmed

CTS CoupeHere comes the sexiest Cadillac in decades…

The CTS Coupe and it’s V-Series brother are scheduled for introduction in 2010 as 2011 models. The base coupe – if you can call a car with standard 304hp DI V-6, available Recaro seats (previously exclusive to the CTS-V sedan but available on all coupes), as well as rear or all-wheel drive could be called ‘base’.

2 suspension setups are available, 1 with 18” all-season tires and rear or all-wheel drive, the other with summer tires in 19” and a performance suspension (rear-drive only).

The CTS Coupe concept’s look and features have come over intact to the production model (as spy photos have shown). Notably present are the electronic door handles as well as the unique lower fascia that echos that of the concept and is more agressive than that of the sedan.

2” lower and 2” shorter than the sedan on the same wheelbase with a more raked windshield and incredibly flat rear glass, the production model drips with style that GM of years past would not and could not have built.

Expect the coupe to come in with a base price mid-way into the sedan’s range as there appears to be no 3.0l DI engine option (yet) as there is with the less-sporty CTS models. So, pricing should be in the mid-40’s to start.

Also, fully expect all-wheel drive to be available with the automatic only – sorry to those of you who like to row your own and live anywhere that gets snow.

CTS-V Challenge - um, yeah. CTS-V’s kick butt

The results of yesterday’s CTS-V challenge are out and, as you might expect, the CTS-V cleaned up on Monticello’s 3+ mile track.

Taking 1st-3rd and 5th-7th and 10th places – the V’s acquitted themselves quite well.

The best challenger was a BMW M3 in the 4th spot. 8th was filled with what many consider the V’s closest competitor, the BMW M5. The M5 with it’s 500hp was fewer than 3 seconds ahead of the 9th place Mitsubishi Evolution.

11th-12th were brought up by the Jaguar XF (note, Jaguar was supposed to supply an XF-R for the competition but felt that its brakes were not up to the task of competitive laps and backed out at the last minute) and the Audi RS4.
