Can you tell I’ve recently discovered Cars.com’s video reviews?

This time around it is a ‘quick drive’ of the supercharged XLR-V (which is odd, since they don’t seem to really spend much time actually driving the darn thing…a shame for any V-series.

Business Week has a interesting article about how Cadillac is wooing luxury buyers in China.

As the Chinese discover mobility and acquire wealth, established luxury brands from the western world are throwing every trick they have at making sure they walk away with all this new-found Chinese cash.

Given China’s 1.2 billion people, even the tiny percentage that can afford such extravagances represent a significant number of sales – and mainly to people who have no brand loyalty yet.

Other examples of Cadillac’s push is unique models like the SLS, with improved rear accommodations to cater to the new Chinese rich who prefer to not drive themselves.

Ultimately, increased volumes in emerging markets like China can only help Cadillac in their home market as each sale puts a bit more money in the bank that can then go to develop products for all markets.

Edmunds has published their 2007 list of ‘Consumers Most Wanted’.

Cadillac tied for second place (with Honda) by have 4 vehicles on the list. Chevrolet took first place with 5.

Cadillac took honors in:

Sedan under $35k – CTS
Sedan under $45k – STS
SUV over $45k – Escalade/Escalade ESV
and
Convertible over $60k – XLR

Congrats to Cadillac.

Edmunds’ Inside Line sub-site decided recently to give a run-down of all the latest rumors of Cadillac’s future products. Lots of this isn’t really news to regulars of the Caddy Edge – but it might be interesting to put all of this in one post for future reference.

A day before the media days of the Los Angeles Auto Show, Cadillac announced a premium trim level of the DTS, STS, and XLR coined the ‘Platinum Series’.

As you may remember, Cadillac has shown Platinum badged Escalades in the past.

Each model is marked by dressed up interiors and other nice touches like unique wheels, paint colors, etc.

Expect to be able to pick up an XLR or STS Platinum Series early in 2007 with the DTS Platinum Series now bowing until August 2007 as a 2008 model year.
