Inside the design of the CTS

Car and Driver has a little article about the trouble GM went through to get the design of the CTS just right.

08 CTSApparently, they made several of the design studios compete for the honor of their design being the one used for the CTS. Once the best work from each studio was picked – they created life-sized clay models of each studio’s idea and put them head to head where the current design was picked.

If only they had pictures of the 4 losing designs…that would be interesting to see.

I also would love to see those other designs. I’ve always felt the CTS design was cutting edge. I really could sense that they thought out the design. We like it’s ergonomics, size and of course the performance. Our complaints are minimal, like why is the trunk lid so heavy, and the door panels so hard to rest your elbow on. Minor stuff all in all.
