Cadillac may donate platform to Alpha Romeo

MotorAuthority is reporting that Italian automaker Alpha Romeo, which is looking to compete against luxury brands like Lexus, BMW, and Mercedes is shopping for a rear-drive platform to base their new cars on. After being rebuffed by Mercedes, it appears that parent company FIAT may have a deal in the works to use their own version of GM's Sigma chassis. Though MotorAuthority suggests that the version they would get would not be the new, improved Sigma that underpins the new CTS - but rather the previous Sigma that the original CTS used. So, Alpha gets a rear-drive platform, but one that will take a little bit of work on their end to make competitive with the current state-of-the-art in luxury cars. Good luck Alpha.
