Yowza! Cadillac drops CTS Sport Wagon on us at Pebble Beach

August 15, 2008 - 4:05 am

2010 CTS Sport WagonColor us surprised at Cadillac’s decision to show off their two new utility vehicles, the 2010 CTS Sport Wagon and the new 2010 SRX at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.

Details of note:

Only 25 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seat (the position appears to be that if you want sporty – get this wagon, if you want cargo room, choose the SRX).

Powertrain choices mirror the sedan, which means 6-speed manual or automatic, rear or all-wheel drive (with the exception of the unavailable 6-speed manual/all-wheel drive combo, same as the sedan). Engines include the same 3.6l V-6 in Direct Injection and non-DI flavors as well as the 2.9l diesel V-6 in Europe.

Actually 0.3 inches shorter than the sedan

Available 19” wheels

Unique integrated roof ‘rack’ cargo management system that conceals the cross bars and provide a ‘fin’ of sorts when viewed from behind.

If it weren’t for the upcoming coupe…this could easily be the sexiest of the CTS models…an odd position to find for something as utilitarian as a wagon.

Spy Shot Weekend: CTS-V Coupe!

August 14, 2008 - 10:08 pm

While Cadillac has made no bones about the fact that the CTS and CTS-V coupes would launch simultaneously…it has taken until today to finally snag a shot of the mythic giant-killer…the CTS-V coupe…undergoing testing.

CTS-V CoupeLooking pretty much the same as the non-V coupe, this one is certainly the hot one due to the size of the tire/wheel/brake package and the giant dual round exhausts exiting in the same center location as the standard coupe.

While the CTS-V sedan is already proving to be quite a runner…we can only wonder if the CTS-V coupe might get an even harder edge to take on the BMW M3 directly.

Cadillac considering 2.0l turbo 4-cylinder for CTS

July 30, 2008 - 1:58 pm

In a move to get average fuel economy up across the board, GM is considering some interesting powertrain combos.

The one of interest to us here at tCE is the rumored consideration of the 2.0l Direct Injection, Turbo 4-cylinder engine in the CTS.

This engine puts out a stout 260hp in the Saturn Sky Redline, Pontiac Solstice GXP, and the Chevrolet Cobalt SS.

The advantage is that, even with power equivalent to the current, non-DI 3.6l V-6, you could expect significantly better mileage.

So, your thoughts? Would you even consider a turbo 4-cylinder CTS?
