As Expected - Cadillac Announces All-Electric Escalade IQ
We have been working for some time on a piece where we talk about Cadillac’s all-electric future. As part of this, we ran across trademarks the brand has for vehicles that fit into the -IQ naming convention previewed with the LYRIQ and CELESTIQ.
Yesterday, Cadillac officially announced another from the list we have seen…
Escalade IQ
This will be an all-electric, full-sized SUV that should carry the Escalade’s road presence and market position while being built on GM’s new Ultium all-electric technology that we’ve seen in the LYRIQ and GMC Hummer EV truck and SUV, and that we will eventually see in the CELESTIQ, Chevy Silverado EV, and the GMC Sierra EV.
Expect the Escalade IQ to be followed quickly by a version that has had its name trademarked but is not part of today’s announcement - the Escalade IQL. This is certainly a stretched version of the electric Escalade much as the ESV is a stretched version of the current SUV.
This Escalade is certain to be faster than the Escalade V-Series that went on sale recently - if performance of the EV trucks and SUVs from other GM brands is any indication.
Oh, and don’t be surprised when Cadillac releases vehicles with the following names as all-electric offerings to supplement or replace other cars in the lineup:
VISTIQ
LUMISTIQ
ASCENDIQ
SYMBOLIQ
OPTIQ
