Cadillac Expands Their Autonomous Mobility Vision with VTOL Concept
Cadillac had one more trick up its concept sleeve at this year’s CES show.
Taking electric propulsion and autonomy into a new dimension, the third dimension, with their single-seat vertical take-off concept.
Powered by 4, counter-rotating, ducted fans and flown autonomously…the VTOL concept would serve as a 90kph (56mph) method of transporting people across town (more efficiently than their autonomous ground-based ‘pod’ would be able to). Though the two vehicles are considered to be complementary with the ground-based autonomous vehicle taking passengers to the take-off location or picking them up from the landing pad.
Inside, similar to the personal autonomous vehicle, are Cadillac-grade leather, wood, and technology.
There is no word on if or when a Cadillac branded VTOL would be ready to fly - but it shows how Cadillac leadership is looking for ways the brand could extend to all corners of the luxury transportation market.
