Inside the design of the CTS

Car and Driver has a little article about the trouble GM went through to get the design of the CTS just right. Apparently, they made several of the design studios compete for the honor of their design being the one used for the CTS. Once the best work from each studio was picked - they created life-sized clay models of each studio's idea and put them head to head where the current design was picked.
