GM Readying Twin-Turbo 3.0 DI
Looking over at Ford's EcoBoost 3.5 (in the Taurus SHO, Lincoln MKS, Ford Flex, etc) with a certain amount of envy? Well, GMI is reporting that GM's working toward a twin-turbo, direct injection version of the 3.0 V-6 (the base engine for the CTS and SRX) that will rival the EcoBoost 3.5 for power while delivering equal or better economy. Given the 3.5 from Ford is pumping out over 350hp - this would be a great engine for the XTS as well as perhaps for a M3 fighting ATS. It would do wonders for bridging the gap in the CTS line between the 3.6 and the CTS-V as well. Of course, a turbo Northstar would have been pretty sweet as well. Source: GM Inside News
