Cadillac Trademarks a Whole Set of CT and XT Names

Cadillac had announced the name of their new top sedan, and previewed a new name scheme with the CT6.

Recently we have also heard that the SUV portion of their lineup will rock names starting with XT.

Well, as if to drive the point home, Cadillac has filed for trademark protection for the following names:

CT2, CT3, CT4, CT5, CT7, and CT8 as well as

XT2, XT3, XT4, XT5, XT6, XT7, and XT8.

This suggests that the previous flagship car, the CT6, will, in fact, fall below two additional models. This could see the top sedan overshadowed by a rakish 4-door coupe in the CT7 and under an, as yet unknown body style CT8.

The XT lineup is more in flux with rumor having the Escalade keeping its name and only 3 other crossovers on deck (SRX replacement as well as a model smaller and larger). This leaves 4 names for indeterminate products. Could Cadillac be planning coupe-esque crossovers like BMW's X4 and X6?
